Transforming the nations by… running with the vision
It has been a year and three months since we were placed as overseers of the ministry and so much has taken place since that time. It has been our faith in an all-powerful God that has sustained us. He has given us a vision and that vision we have kept before us. We are so thankful for His grace and mercy. We are also so very thankful for all our new and old friends that have captured the vision and continue to co-labor with us.

One of the many changes that have taken place is that the Haitian and Dominican churches now have separate locations. The church building that they once shared was up for sale and we could not renew the rental contract. We saw this as an opportunity for both congregations to grow and flow as God has called them to. This past Sunday we had a wonderful service celebrating this new advancement in the Haitian congregation. The Dominican church will be moving into their new location this month. We are excited for both congregations as they continue to grow and lift up the name of Jesus in Hato Mayor

Transforming nations through… education
Our greatest and most changelling project this year was establishing the school as an institution recognized by the secretary of education. Every time I think about it makes me smile and everyday I walk into the school and see those smiling faces I want to jump for joy! Something that seemed impossible has been accomplished and there are greater things to come.

The current educational situation in the Dominican Republic is grave. Education only receives a shocking 2% of the gross domestic profit. Also, because the schools cannot accommodate all the students they only are in class for half a day, which is a substantial difference compared to other countries. Here in Baitoa many do not finish grade school and the percentage that actually completes high school is even lower.

It is our desire is to continue to add classrooms each year. The Lord has given us the vision to add until we reach 12th grade, which why it is vital that we purchase the building and the land that is next to the building. We also feel that classroom hours should be longer; this is a strange concept for many here. Our vision is to prepare students that will be able to compete on an international level. The children in this small town deserve every opportunity to succeed. Our God is no respecter of persons.

Please believe with us that this is the season of breakthrough and divine connections. We believe that God will connect us with those that have a heart for children and a heart for education.

Adult education program:
We have finally got the green light to begin the adult education program here in Baitoa. We were waiting for permission from the local authorities. As I mentioned earlier, there are many that do not complete the elementary level of education and have never learned to read. Teaching them to read not only gives the more opportunities and boosts their confidence but it gives us an open door to minister the love of Jesus. We are very excited about this program; it will be headed up by Deacon Ramon Valerio, who has a tremendous gift of teaching.

Transforming our nation through …love
The youth ministry has taken over our “giving to those in need” program. They have gotten the congregation excited about giving food and clothing to those that are struggling to put food on the table. At the end of each month they will bless a family or two with food. Within a week they have already collected a large box of food; I can’t wait to see what they have gathered by the end of the month. In addition to giving food and clothing they will also be looking for small projects that they can do for those that cannot do for themselves, maybe painting for an elderly person or weeding for a widower. Many in a poverty stricken nation believe they can’t give because they think they have nothing to give. We all have something to give, and there is no better way to see the blessings of God come upon us than to start giving.

His love is restoring families.
God is a God of covenant and of restoration. We continue to see it over and over again His restoration power working in families. This past November we celebrated a triple wedding officiated by Apostle Kevin Nelson of Abundant Life Church of Erie (PA). These couples that have been together for years entered into the covenant of marriage. This is an awesome testimony for our community!

Transforming our nation through…advancing the marketplace
In my eleven years of full-time ministry I have learned that everyone has a dream. Poverty, pain, and despression would seem to steal it, but it is still there. Sometimes you have to go deep because it is buried underneath all the hurt. This ministry is called to revive those dreams and help God’s people reach their full potential. It gives me great joy when people come and share their dreams, looking for advice and direction. We are called to help birth those dreams and bring forth fruit that will remain.

Women of Destiny (Mujeres de Destino), the women’s ministry, has had a dream to bring forth businesses. There is so much creativity in these ladies that God wants to use for His glory and Kingdom. Recently, the ladies were given a chance to show what they can do. Kingdom First Investment Club, from Belivers Church International, invested in their dream. The result, beautiful handbags. We know that God has a plan to grow and prosper the work of their hands.

Transforming the nation… co-laboring together
In this letter we were only able to share a small portion of how God is moving in the Dominican Republic. The vision is great and the land is fertile. We believe for great advancement this year. Will you be a part of this great advancement? We are in need of monthly supporters and are looking for those that will make a monthly commitment. We would ask you to stand with us in prayer and support. Perhaps you know others that have a heart for the nations, will you share the vision and be part of all the wonderful things that God is doing here.

We thank you and so greatly appreciate you all!
